World Wide Tour

Our day started with breakfast, packing lunches, and a trip to World Vision. World Vision is a Christian humanitarian organization, that strives to help wipe out poverty and hunger world wide. World Vision is able to accomplish this through non-profit donations, and educating families with life skills that help generation after generation continue to be self sufficient communities. The group was asked to help sort and box clothing that will be shipped world wide to help the less fortunate have much needed clothing and supplies. The work was tough and the warehouse we were working in was hot however the group pitched in and worked like mad. Not only did they work hard they also seemed to have a smile on their faces the entire time, listening to music and laughing a lot. We ate lunch at World Vision and off to the Denver Asian Market area. The goal of the next activity was to learn something about the Asian culture and try new foods on a limited budget. We saw some really scary foods and some people even tried those scary foods, WOW.
After. The Asian Market we went back to CMS for some rest another devotional. The devotional focused on Ephesians,Galatians, and the nine Fruits of the Spirit. This group of young people are pretty amazing regarding some of their answers to questions. This group comes up with some pretty profound answers. When we finished with devotional time, it was off to the Senior Support Services. We helped serve meals to homeless and under priviledged seniors. This was an incredibly rewarding place to visit and work. The men eating here were so appreciative and kind. They were also very thankful, which is amazing given their circumstances. I can't tell you how many times we heard, thank you, and God bless you. They loved having the young folks there and visiting with them. It was such a cool place that almost everyone in the goup purchased a tee shirt to support this mission work and to help them be the light of Christ in the World.
Dinner was Erawan Thai restaurant, where we met the owner Authur who was able to visit with us and the food was great. After Dinner it was off to Licks Ice Cream, a local Ice Cream shop with lots of neat flavors and amazing taste, then off to bed.

What a bust day. More tommorw, same time, same Bat channel.

BINGO.

Our day started with an infusion walk around the Baker neighborhood and all of the public gardens located there. We were able to learn a great deal about how these public gardens have had an incredibly positive impact on the development of a sense of community pride in this neighborhood and others. We proceeded to the Atlantis Community Center, where we met Nola, our host and guide while we were there. Nola talked to us about the struggles that people with disabilities face every day. We finished the tour and we were off to do some tough work there at Atlantis. We worked in the garden, weeding, watering, and picking vegetables for the residence at Atlantis. It was hot, the work was hard, but very rewarding. The garden looked amazing when we were done and everyone worked very well. We even had time to meet and visit with some of the residence of the program, and hear their story, awesome. Now, off to a local park for lunch. When we returned from lunch we had some down time and then some devotional time with our Bibles, talking about what we were doing hear in Denver, and how we could be Gods light to the world. All I can say is "WOW", what an insightful group of young people, some of the discussions were wonderful, a blessing. If you are curious try reading Ephesians 5:8-11, this is the passage our discussion was based on, these guys and gals have amazing faith and insight.
Now it was time for some much deserved dinner at Pete's Greek Town Cafe, and it rocked. After dinner we went to the Silvercrest Senior Residence to play BINGO have an ice-cream social with the residence there. It was a blast some of the residence were real characters, cutting up and having fun.
Well that's it for now we are off for devotional time right now stay tuned for more.

A little taste of home.

Yesterday was very busy and eye opening day. The day started with meeting a homeless person and getting to know them, by taking them to breakfast(the breakfast plunge). we were able to. Meet the homeless this way,and shown them God's love by getting to know them and buying them breakfast. The 2 folks that we met were David and Shannon, who were very open with us talking about their situations and making us aware of the problems that face the homeless. We went to "The Crossing" to help next. "The Crossing" is a transitional housing facility for families facing addiction and homelessness. We worked in the kitchen and serving food to the homeless, along with cleaning the kitchen area, and eating lunch there. The students were amazing, with how hard they worked and the amount of work they accomplished. After going back to CSM for a brief break we were able to experience a small taste of home at Santiago's Mexican Restaurant, for some stuffed soppapillas and Indian tacos, it was great. on to the Lambuth Family Center, to play with homeless children, while their parents were taking life skills class to care for them better. The students were awesome once again.

Are we there yet?

Yesterday was a tough day of travel, without one complaint. The students are very excited and ready to do some great work. We arrived at around 4:30 and met our guide Kailie, who took us on a prayer tour around downtown Denver. We learned a great deal about the homeless issues in the Denver metro area and we were able to pray as a group for many different areas of Denver. The students are excited, and seem to be having a blast. We had dinner at Pho 79 a Vietnamese restaurant and the food was wonderful, what a blessing after a long day of travel. Everyone was very adventurous and hungry so, good eating was not a problem. It is obvious to me that good works will be done and so great friendships will be developed. More to come standby.

Los Manos de Dios.
